Hello embassy? Does Poland have vampires?

-

Britain’s Foreign Office has released a list of some of the oddest requests it receives from befuddled travellers.

Among questions culled from 330,000 U.K. citizens needing help, one person wanted details on the plot of the 1995 Mel Gibson film Braveheart, and another wanted the lowdown on the undead in eastern Europe. In the Canary Islands, meanwhile, a caller wanted the Foreign Office to step in after a cat peed on a hotel room bed.

British embassies and consulates helped more than 5,000 tourists who were arrested, more than 3,400 who were hospitalized and thousands more seeking emergency travel documents, according to an analysis of the figures.

A spokesman said the Foreign Office will do what it can to help citizens, but there’s a limit.
