Woman brags about poaching deer on dating app — to game warden

It’s one thing to brag about something you’re good at. It’s another to do so via dating app.

Cannon Harrison, a game warden at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, was searching for love just like anyone these days digitally via dating app Bumble. One day, Harrison received a notification on his phone stating he had been matched up with a 24-year-old woman.

The two potential lovebirds connected and made small talk initially. According to Newsweek, when Harrison asked the unnamed woman how she was doing, she told him she had just killed a deer and noted she was “pretty happy about it.”

Pressing further, the man asked his potential date if she nailed the animal with a bow — which is the legal way to kill a deer in Oklahoma.

“We don’t need to talk about that,” she reportedly said.

Harrison further questioned her, getting the woman to admit she had been spotlighting — an unlawful act where hunters shine flashlights into a deer’s eyes in order to freeze them still. Harrison’s potential love connection bragged about killing the animal and shared pictures of her with the deer.

“Honestly, the first thing I thought was that it was someone who was messing with me because they knew who I was,” Harrison told The Washington Post. “It seemed too good to be true.”

The game warden used what info the woman gave him and tracked her down via social media. Department of Wildlife Conservation officials showed up at her doorstep to question her the next day.

The woman pleaded guilty to improper possession of an illegally taken animal and taking game out-of-season. She was fined $2,400.

It’s safe to say there was no love connection between Harrison and the deer hunter.
