New food vendors on the menu at the PNE

- — Tiffany Crawford

Have you got a flair for wacky food creations or know how to make the perfect drink to slake the thirst of fairgoers?

This might be for you. Vancouver’s Pacific National Exhibition, which runs for 15 days at the end of August, has put a call out for new food vendors for this year’s fete.

Last year, the PNE celebrated 50 years of the mini doughnut and each year it seems vendors try to outdo each other with their unique treats and eats such as cricket candy apples or deep fried — well, just about everything.

Yet it’s not just indulgent or wacky food that the PNE is looking for.

PNE spokesperson Faizzal Fatehali said in a statement on Thursday that the fair “prioritizes a range of healthy options including fresh fruit and salad stands, protein shake vendors and freshly grown vegetables from our Chef ’s Garden.”

Those seeking to be a PNE vendor for 2019 can apply at pne.ca/exhibiting-space/e.

?? ?? The PNE has offered dozens of outrageous new food items, including bacon cotton candy, deep-fried coffee and mini-doughnut Popsicles.
