Openandshut case?
Retractable roof could see some action tonight
ATLANTA — For the second straight year, a glitzy new NFL stadium in its second year of existence is playing host to a Super Bowl.
Minnesota’s U.S.
Bank Stadium last year, Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium this year.
The latter replaces the Georgia Dome, which the local folk literally blew up just over a year ago, not even 30 years after it was built. Unreal.
The latest, fancier, glitzier domed football mecca here opened its retractable roof for the first time in 2017.
The NFL had yet to decide Saturday whether it will open the stadium’s dilating, eight-panel roof for Sunday’s game, although Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times tweeted that he has heard the roof will remain open pre-game, then close, so spectators may see the cool spectacle.
The weather forecast for Sunday evening calls for clear skies, virtually no wind and a temperature falling from 13C at kickoff to about 9C by game’s end.
