Garnier SkinActive Black Peel-Off Mask with Charcoal

- ALEESHA HARRIS

What it is: A peel-off face mask formulated with charcoal to help, “visibly lift away deep impurities revealing clearer, more luminous skin.”

The “liquid-to-peel” formula sets and dries on skin after 20 minutes and can be peeled off, lifting dead skin and impurities from the face, while also promising to help control new sebum and pore-clogging in the future.

What we say: This black mask is sure to be a fast favourite for those who love the peel-stick-and-pull products of years past.

It delivers on its promise of visibly pulling dead skin cells, pore gunk and even tiny hairs from one’s face.

But be forewarned, it may be a bit harsh for those with really sensitive skin.

Our tester applied the inky goop to her freshly cleansed face, allowing it to set for just a bit longer than the prescribed time. (Bonus points for the fact that it doesn’t drip or migrate on skin while it’s setting, so you don’t have to lay prone until it adheres for fear of making a mess.)

Removal was easy, just pick a corner and pull, but it did really adhere to the skin’s surface and our tester reported that removing it felt a little like “waxing one’s face.”

Skin felt smooth post-use and the detritus left on the mask provided a few moments of “eww, gross!” type proclamations. Where to get it: Mass

retailers What it will cost you: $10.49
