FISHER, Joan Isabel

(nee Trehearne) Joan died peacefully in Vancouver, B.C. on June 3, 2019 at the age of 95, after a short stay in extended care. She was predecease­d by her son Geoffrey Fisher, and her husband Pete Fisher. She is survived by her stepdaught­er Elaine Skinner and her three children and their families. Joan was also predecease­d by her parents Frank and Christina Trehearne, as well as five siblings Jim, Joyce, Fran, Terry and Deryck Trehearne. Joan is also survived by her youngest sister Maureen, and by her numerous devoted Trehearne nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews from across Canada and the United States. Joan was born and raised in The Okanagan in B.C. She served with the Women’s Division of The Royal Canadian Air Force and after the war, settled in Vancouver, B.C. where she joined Vancouver Cablevisio­n. She enjoyed a long career with the company and retired from an executive position with Rogers in the mid 1990s. In retirement, Joan enjoyed golfing with her Ladies Group at The Musqueam Golf Club, playing bridge and travelling. Joan will always be remembered for her kindness and sense of humour, bridge, Scrabble, her open-door policy at her "hotel" in Point Grey and her devotion and connection to her large and extended family. She was a profoundly positive influence on many lives. A memorial service will take place Friday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Helen’s Anglican Church, 4405 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C.
