JONES, Margaret Violet

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother. Predeceased by her husband Jack and two brothers Jack and David Horton, she will be missed by her children Greg (Linda), Vicki (Charlie), Leslie (Cam), her grandchildren Greg (Kate), Myk, David, Callum, Matthew (Dana), Stuart (Barbara), Graeme (Jackie) and her great granddaughter Olivia. Born in Vancouver and raised in the Grandview area she attended Britannia High School. Following her marriage to Jack they moved to North Burnaby to raise their children. Margaret was very engaged in the community, the PTA, Little League, Brownies and Girl Guides. As her children got older she went to work at Simon Fraser University and worked in many capacities beginning in the Reading and Study Services, moving to the Counselling Department and on to fundraising for the Athletics Department. She was a founding member of the SFU Retirees Association and her career at SFU spanned 50 years. She loved to organize things whether it was a fund raiser, golf tournament, social event, the Day at the Races for the Retirees Association or lovingly her children's lives. She was generous, kind and never hesitated to help others. She will always be remembered for sending a card or gift to relatives, friends, neighbours and even her children's friends to acknowledge a special occasion. We will miss her. There will be no service by request.
