DE BONIS, Vincenzo

January 9, 1926 - November 26, 2019

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Vincenzo at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Irene Amelia, in 2016. He will forever be in the hearts of his children: Raffaella, Loreta, Maria (Renato), Arcangelo (Debbie), Anna, Antonio (Kimberlie), 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Born in Fondi, Latina, Italy, Vincenzo immigrated to Canada in 1955. Upon arrival, his first job was with CN Rail in Savona. He later ran his own business in Vancouver as a cement finisher by day, and a mill worker at Evans Products by night. He worked very hard to provide for his large family.

Gardening was his truest passion. He would always say, "I love to see plants grow," and would lovingly tend to his garden from morning to night. One of his proudest moments was in 2009 when he won the Garden Fanatic award in the David Suzuki Digs My Garden contest, a well-deserved recognition.

Later in life, he was introduced to hunting and could not wait to pack his gun for yet another adventure with his sons and grandsons.

In addition to his legacy to work hard, Vincenzo will be lovingly remembered for his compassion, generosity and kindness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 10th at 11:00 am. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, 2025 Napier Street in Vancouver. Entombment will take place at the South Mausoleum in Ocean View Burial Park, starting at 2:30 pm.
