John passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife Linda and his three daughters, Julia, Joanna and Amie following an 11 year battle with brain cancer. Dr. D., as he was known to many, was a groundbreaking facial cosmetic surgeon in Vancouver. He had a devoted staff and was much loved by his patients. His core staff, Linda Cotiamco and Annemarie Sawyer worked with him for over 20 years. Beyond the operating room, John deeply cherished his family, including his wife of 45 years, Linda and three daughters, Julia (John), Joanna (Brennan) and Amie as well as six beautiful grandchildren, Ryder, Grayson, Calder, Leo, Nicole and Eloise whom he adored. He instilled in his daughters the importance of education, family and raised them to be independent women. John lived an incredibly full life with family and friends. Before starting his practice he spent a season skiing at Whistler. He loved travelling, sailing, golfing and learning new skills. After his diagnosis, he took up painting and all of his family are thankful to have his paintings hanging in their homes. The past decade was very difficult for him following his diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2008, and suffering a stroke in 2014. John showed great strength, optimism and courage. John's family would like to thank his friends who made regular visits, the caring staff at Crofton Manor and his physiotherapist Paula Peres. John will be missed but never forgotten. We are all better for having known and loved him. We, his family, are grateful he is at peace. The family will be holding a private celebration.
