Sandler dismisses flop talk
Adam Sandler never knows what people mean when they refer to the “downs” of his career — because he loves every movie he’s ever made.
The 53-year-old actor has been in the entertainment business since making his film debut in Going Overboard in 1989.
Since then, he’s starred in numerous movies — some of which have been received well, while others have been panned — but Sandler insisted in an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes that he’s proud of everything he’s starred in.
Asked about the “ups and downs” of his career, Sandler replied: “Man, I don’t know what the downs have been. I mean, maybe in some people, when they write about me, they talk about my downs. But I don’t have any downs. I love every movie I’ve made. I’ve never in my entire career phoned one thing in.”
Despite some of his projects attracting cruel remarks from trolls and critics alike, Sandler added he’s become used to being the subject of such comments. But that’s not to say he didn’t find it tough to deal with when he got his first bad review.
“That stuff doesn’t hurt me anymore. I think it hurt me 20 years ago,” he mused. “It got me 20 years ago. I was — kinda shell-shocked like, ‘What happened? They say I suck? I thought I was good at this.’”
