The Province

A message from the editor-in-chief

- JASON PAYNE Harold Munro Editor-in-Chief The Province

The Province has changed during the current pandemic.

While our reporters and editors are doubling down to give you all the latest news and information about COVID-19, we also have taken new steps to help our community in its time of need.

We have built an online directory of businesses that remain open for service and we are encouraging our readers to shop local, for example.

But our readers have undoubtedly begun to notice changes in the newspaper itself as a result of the unprecedented societal disruption.

Arts, business and travel content in particular has been reduced because cultural events have stopped, venues have closed and people are staying home.

Also, there is understandably less advertising on our pages as many businesses hit by COVID-19 slash spending and fight to survive.

So, for as long as this crisis lasts, you will notice a few differences.

The Province will continue to give our sports readers a strong selection of available content to keep you informed of the state of pro leagues eager to resume play.

And our focus on local news remains undiminished.

We know it’s critically important to you that our journalists continue to provide you with comprehensive, factual coverage of the pandemic’s impact on our community, advice on how to cope and thoughtful opinion and analysis.

We also remain committed to a robust package of national and world content, as we explore the global implications of what we are experiencing and ideas about how we will rebuild afterwards.

To our newspaper readers, we urge you to check out the deeper file of our content online on our website at theprovince.com.

Lastly, our call centre is currently experiencing an unprecedented volume of calls.

For faster service to process a delivery concern, temporarily stop or restart your delivery, renew your subscription or update your credit card information, we encourage you to manage your subscription online by visiting theprovince.com/ mysubscription or by using our automated call processing system by calling 1-800663-2662 and following the prompts.

These services are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Your patience is appreciated. Thank you on behalf of The Province team for your continued readership and support of local journalism.

By standing together, we will get through this.
