THOMAS, Vicki Ann
September 12, 1953 - May 9, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Vicki Ann Thomas, wife, mother and grandmother on May 9 at the age of 66. Vicki passed after a second, short and hard-fought battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, two children Jeff (Leslie) and Melanie (Amelia), two adoring grandchildren James and Kendall, as well as two sisters Patricia (Steve) and Beverley (Frank).
Vicki was born in Vancouver, Washington and through her father’s career in baseball and mobile home development, she lived in numerous areas including: Mexico, Huntington Beach (California), Langley (BC) and ultimately settling in Vancouver (BC), where she met Jim.
Vicki earned her business degree from Western Washington University. She started her career with the Royal Bank as Branch Administrator, elevating each year, ultimately in the Executive Cash Management role. She earned the designation in the Institute of Chartered Bankers. After that she stepped back from her business career to raise her family.
Vicki was a proud wife, mother and grandmother who celebrated every moment in her family’s life. She never missed an opportunity to be her children’s biggest fan at the ballpark, the arena or the ski hill. In addition to that, she was a lead administrator of their teams, leagues and associations.
Vicki was highly involved in the community as a committed volunteer. She spoke fondly of her time with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, World Police and Fire Games, The Grey Cup, World Junior Hockey Championships, BC Lions Football Club, West Vancouver Library and Inglewood Care Centre.
Vicki had a passion for travel and experiencing the world through adventures…. from Coast to Coast travel with her kids’ sports teams, small ship cruises through the Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Croatian Coast, and a love of all music highlighted with a trip to Nashville. Vicki and Jim shared a special spot in their hearts for Italy.
Vicki had a genuine love for everyone she came across in her lifetime, spreading happiness and making a positive and memorable impact with each person. We’d love to share in your stories about her, so we’ve set up an email for those memories - VickiThomasStories@gmail.com
In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider passing on her goodness of the heart with an act of kindness in Vicki’s memory.
Due to the World events, a Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date to fully celebrate Vicki in the way she deserves.
