CATLEY, Dorothy Janette

-

Jan. 30, 1932 - May 21, 2020

Rebecca and Jamie (Cheryl) are very sad to announce the death of their mother, Dorothy Catley, born Dorothy Scott in Ceylon in 1932 where she lived until her parents returned to Perth, Scotland at the beginning of WW2. She was an accomplished artist and began her world travels by bringing her talents to Vancouver in 1953 to dress the windows of Woodward's. After meeting the love of her life and soul-mate she married John Catley in 1957. Together they travelled the globe by air, sea and road trip, but always created a warm home for family and friends in Vancouver and Saltspring Island. She adored her four grandchildren (James, Anna, Duncan and Hazel) and opened her heart to so many others who became like family. To everyone who knew her as a loving sister, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend, we know you will miss her deeply. We will hold a celebration in the future when we can all be together. In the meantime, please pour yourself a good cup of coffee, a stiff gin and tonic or a glass of champagne and toast a life well lived. And have some licorice too! In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cottage Hospice, the staff of which gave Mum such great care in the last chapter of her life. "It's all good."
