MOORE, Mary Barbara

-

October 17, 1929 - May 20, 2020

With sorrow we announce the death of Mary (Molly) Barbara Moore (nee Finlay) in Vancouver on May 20, 2020. Molly was born in Vancouver on October 17, 1929, the first of two daughters of Mabel Christian Finlay (nee Honeyman) and Allan Hunter Finlay. She was predeceased by her sister Ann Hunter Hargest (nee Finlay) and daughter Sarah Ann Creery. Molly is survived by her Creery sons; John Michael (Anne), Jamie (Carole), Adam (Laurie) and Anthony (Laura), her loving husband Denis Moore and his children Frank (Susan), Catriona(John), Ian(Amanda) and Rowan(Mark), her niece Sophie, many grandchildren and family friends.

After a dance career that culminated with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Molly returned to Vancouver where she married John Creery and raised their four boys. Molly was heavily involved with the Junior League, taught gourmet cooking and continued to play the piano as she had done in her award winning youth. During the mid-70's, she and her second husband, Dr. Denis Moore, merged their families together and spent a year in Saskatoon. In 1977 they returned to Vancouver where Molly attained her bachelor's degree at UBC, helped her extended family create families of their own, enjoyed the company of her close friends, taught linguistics at UBC and generally distinguished herself as a hostess extraordinaire who no one will ever forget.

Molly was fun, flamboyant, vivacious, musically and physically talented and, above all, intelligent and articulate. She was a person, wife, mother, stepmother, aunt, grandmother and friend to love, admire and remember; we did and we will. Her long adventure has finally come to an end. A very special "Thank You" to the team at VGH's Banfield Pavilion for the excellent care they provided Molly these last years. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated. A private service will be held at a later date.
