Curved display has multiple views
For the first time, the Escalade will also offer a 3.0-L in-line six Duramax turbodiesel engine. Both the gasoline and diesel engines produce a maximum of 460 pound-feet of torque, and both use a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The cabin’s most noticeable feature is a curved Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display with 38 inches of total diagonal display area. It includes a 7.2-inch driver-information centre, 14.2-inch instrument-cluster display, and 16.9-inch infotainment screen. Available screen views include navigation with live street views, four-camera bird’s-eye surround view, Night Vision, and trailering integration package with nine camera views.
A new rear-seat entertainment system uses two 12.6inch displays with streaming capability for games and videos, and a navigation feature that includes the ability to send destination suggestions to the front navigation screen.
The new Escalade will also be available with AKG audio technology, including a 36-speaker Studio Reference system, microphones and speakers to enhance front- and rear-seat conversation, and specific navigation prompts to improve driving instructions. Those in the front seats will also have a dedicated stereo volume control for each side.
Sharing its redesigned platform with the equally new GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, the Escalade has more third-row legroom and cargo space than before.
The Escalade will also feature available Magnetic Ride Control, air-ride adaptive suspension, and an electric limited-slip differential.
The Super Cruise adaptive cruise-control system will now include automated lane change, which allows the vehicle to perform a lane change using the turn signal switch.
The new Escalade will be built at GM’s assembly plant in Arlington, Texas.
