Surrey man charged in deadly 2019 crash

A 19-year-old Surrey man has been arrested in connection with a single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of another teen last year.

Dilpreet Sandhu faces eight charges including one for dangerous driving causing death and another for failing to remain at the scene of a death. Surrey RCMP say they believe Sandhu was driving a Jeep that crashed at the intersection of 122nd Street and 78th Avenue at 12:35 a.m. on May 18, 2019.

A 19-year-old man died from injuries suffered in the crash while three others, two males and one female, were taken to hospital. Sandhu is due to appear in provincial court in Surrey on Aug. 20.
