In addition, she had 4 Grandchildren, Rena (Dean) Miller, Daniel Gunn, Melina Weitering, Amanda Weitering and 8 Great Grandchildren, Madison, James, Justine, Hailley, Kayden, Koda, Kassia, and Kallum.

Eliesabeth was born on March 21st 1926, in Schönhorst, south Russia, the daughter of Peter Letkemann, and Aganetha (Friesen) Letkemann. Her father was a minister in the Mennonite Church both in Russia and later in Canada. She immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her family .

In 1949 she married Hermann Schapansky and the family moved to Vancouver in 1952. After Hermann's passing , she moved into a condo on Chester St. to be closer to her church. She was always a faithful and hardworking member of the First United Mennonite Church (now the Peace Church on 52nd). She loved to travel and was never happier than when she was cooking for the whole family. She will be greatly missed by many friends and a large caring family.

Service will be graveside only, for the family, on Tuesday June 30th at 11:00am at Mountain View Cemetery. Donations to the MCC.
