WINTERS, Maynie Nellie (nee MacMillan)

Maynie Nellie Winters was incredibly kind, thoughtful, humble and generous. She was also gentle, forgiving and above all selfless. Everything she did, she did to improve the lives of all those around her. And it worked. As soon as you had the privilege to meet her, your heart was uplifted, your mind calmed and your presence warmly welcomed. For nearly 104 years, her strength and love for life drew those fortunate enough to know her ever closer. Small wonder. Her gentle voice opened hearts to the power of hope and love. Her perseverance and positive nature left us filled with adoration and admiration, for she was love made visible. She listened patiently with an open heart, and when she looked at you with her smiling blue eyes, you knew she truly cared about you and the way you felt. As much as she was sincere she was equally quick witted, and her sharp mind was like spring rain to a garden. And she loved to garden. She broke her hip at 92, and by the next season she was back out on her hands and knees pulling out weeds and planting tulips. We are all the bounty of her garden of love. It is said that getting old is not for the faint of heart, at 42 days shy of 104, she made it look easy. One of the most loving and caring people; she will be missed, but her incredible kindness lives on in the people whose lives she touched with her unfailing love.
