OSOBA, Elaine Carol
Aug 7, 1950 - Oct 12, 2020
The family of Elaine Osoba is saddened to announce her passing. Our Thanksgiving Day was full of sorrow, but also deep gratitude for the many gifts she gave us. Elaine was born in Bonnyville, AB on August 7, 1950, to Gerald and Pauline Kashuba (née Klatchuk). She is fondly remembered by her husband Gene, with whom she enjoyed 51 happy years of marriage in St. Albert, AB and Cloverdale, BC.
She is deeply missed every day by her daughter Lisa Osoba, son-in-law Matt Kirchner, and her grandchildren Ella (15) and Charlie (12); father Gerald, brother Don Kashuba and sister-in-law Carol, niece Tessa, Daniel, and grandniece Dallas; and extended family. She was predeceased by her mom Pauline.
Elaine read avidly and had a lightningquick wit and intelligence. She remembered every birthday with the perfect card. Her cookies were legendary. To her vocation as a teacher she brought a passion for helping children of all abilities fulfill their highest potential. Her favourite students were her grandchildren, to whom she was the most wonderful Nan. Mom, and Nan, you taught us everything we need to know about love - thank you forever. Elaine was a ray of sunshine to friends, neighbours, and chosen family like the Buccinis, Rogers, and Wilkies; lifelong teaching friends like Linda Heales; her good friend Viv; and staff at the Cloverdale library. Passersby often remarked on her glorious garden. She had a knack for bringing out the best in everything, and everyone, around her. Thank you to the staff at Abbotsford and Langley Hospitals and especially the VGH Leukemia/BMT unit for your incredible compassion and optimism. Elaine wished no service but a small donation to the BC Cancer Foundation or Parkinson Canada would honour her.
