Maurice ("Mo") Cocking ceased being a prime instigator of family fun on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, passing away peacefully in Langley Hospital at age 88. Daughter Jennifer and husband Tom, son Robert and grand-daughter Cassidy were at his bedside. The Cocking family has lost a merry soul with a big heart that finally gave out. Born in Vancouver, Maurice attended Laura Secord elementary and Britannia secondary schools, before completing structural design training at Vancouver Vocational Institute. He joined the B.C. Telephone Company where he spent thirty years extending telephone services in the interior. For much of the seventies, Mo and wife Rose with children Robert and Jennifer lived in Prince George, moving to Richmond in 1979.

In retirement, he expanded his comic role. At Jennifer and Tom's Elvis-style wedding in Las Vegas, Mo showed up in The Great One's glittering white outfit, causing much excitement. For years Mo was an unruly crew member on board late brother Tom's Beneteau yacht. The two annually created uproar at Beneteau out-station rendezvous with zany skits, the most infamous being the raunchy Captain Benny-Toe routine starring Mo's brilliantly created dummy of the Captain.

Maurice Cocking is survived by son Robert (Dee, Chloe), daughter Jennifer (Tom) and granddaughter Cassidy (Daniel), great-granddaughters Azul and Ruby, granddaughter Daniella and great-grandson Benson. Predeceased by wife Rose, two brothers, Raymond and Thomas, Mo leaves sister Margaret, brothers Phillip (June) and Clive (Linda), and 13 nieces, nephews and families.

Mo is gone but his happy glow shines on, a generous and jolly man never to be forgotten by his extended family. A celebration of life will be held when this becomes appropriate after the Covid-19 vaccination process.
