Cut Horgan some slack on his `do not blow this' comment
Re: Message from a 22-year-old who isn't `blowing it'
When I first read Ms. Tan's letter to the editor commenting on Premier John Horgan's exhortation calling out millennials (in particular) and asking them not to “blow it” during this uptick in COVID cases, I admit my hackles were raised.
I thought, these are the young adults who often “challenge the hierarchy status quo” but also jump to conclusions.
But then, I thought, they can be openminded and adaptive to change.
So why can't she, and others of her generation, understand that Horgan was totally frustrated with the non-compliance of many young people?
He did make the point that it's not all young people, and I know he understands their frustration as I and others do, because I for one wouldn't like to be a young person having to deal with this dreadful scourge.
So, I would ask Ms. Tan to stop and think about who in particular the premier was calling on to do the right thing, and cut him a little slack.
