May your hands always be busy May your feet always be swift May you have a strong foundation When the winds of changes shift May your heart always be joyful May your song always be sung And may you stay forever young Bob Dylan

On a sunny Saturday morning, Sherry, beloved wife of Bill Acorn for 35 years, passed away peacefully in his arms at their home, surrounded by love. For the past 15 years Sherry struggled with early onset Alzheimer's, a terrible illness which robbed her of so much of who she was. Sherry was 71. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (Mike), brothers Charles (Cathy), and Scott (Judy) and sister-in-law Maxine (Ron).

Sherry studied at both Lower Mainland universities receiving her BA and Law degrees from UBC and her MBA from SFU. She started her own legal firm and operated as a sole practitioner until she joined the BC Ministry of Finance in 1986. In 1993, she was appointed Superintendent of Pensions, a position she proudly held for over 9 years. Over that period, she led several national initiatives which gave her the opportunity to travel to all of Canada's provincial capitals. She loved this time of her life and she loved Canada. During that time, she was very much in demand as a keynote speaker at numerous financial forums. In 2002 she joined Bill as an investment advisor, taking on a role that allowed her to maximize one of her many strengths: communicating and relating to people. Sherry and Bill had many memorable cruises, Hawaiian get-aways and European adventures. In the past ten years their favorite escape had been Palm Springs.

Sherry was whip-smart, an accomplished cook, an avid gardener and a voracious reader. She was compassionate, witty and beautiful, inside and out. She brought love and joy to all who knew her. Her sunny disposition endured everything.

Due to Covid there will be no service at this time. A memorial will be held later when we can all gather to celebrate Sherry's life.
