STEINSON, Carolyn

September 1960 - April 2021

-

Carolyn (or Care, or Auntie Care, but never Caroline!) left us on April 12, 2021 after a short and courageous battle with a very aggressive cancer. Carolyn was raised in New Westminster BC and attended NWSS and Douglas College before embarking on a career in backoffice accounting. In 2007 she married Brian Hill, and they moved to Fort St. John for his career in radio. Tragically she lost her "Newsboy" in a car accident in 2008. She continued living in Fort St. John until 2011, when she relocated to Coquitlam. Carolyn always looked forward to her next cruise, whether it was with friends or by herself. She kept in touch with lots of childhood friends, and she made many strong friendships with co-workers over the years. Auntie Care was especially proud of her nieces and nephews, in addition to her "adopted" nieces and nephews - her friends' children. Carolyn was predeceased by her mother June Steinson (1975), husband Brian Hill (2008), and father Bruce Steinson (2011). She is survived by her sister Nancy O'Krafka, brothers Scott Steinson (Lisa) and David Steinson (Neelu), stepmother Gale Steinson, nieces and nephews Ben and Holly Steinson, Joseph and Matthew O'Krafka, Ashwin and Serena Steinson. Also survived by her loving cousins, and her life-long friend Lynn Lilje, whose friendship was invaluable during Carolyn's illness. A celebration of life will be held in the future when it is safe to gather in large groups. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of BC would be welcomed.
