Eleanor is also survived by her brother, Ralph Franksen and his wife, Margaret. Eleanor attended the University of British Columbia completing a degree in Nutritional/Dietary Studies. She worked as a dietician and met and married Jack in 1956. Eleanor devoted her early life to her family as Jack, a geologist with Cominco Ltd, was away working for extensive periods. Later Eleanor was able to pursue other careers journalism, real estate and then was able to translate her enjoyment of bridge into another career. She was a bridge instructor for many years in the Vancouver area. However, since Eleanor and Jack enjoyed cruising, she transported her bridge instruction to her fellow cruisers. She and Jack enjoyed seeing many parts of the world during these cruises.
During their life together, Eleanor and Jack had the opportunity due to Jack's work to live in various places in Canada including: Rossland/Trail, Port Arthur/ Thunderbay, Montreal, Oakville, then to Spokane Washington and then returning to her home roots in the Vancouver area: Tsawwassen and White Rock. Eleanor grew up and attended school in the Burnaby area. Eleanor has requested not to have a funeral, we will take time on our own to reflect on her long and fruitful life. She leaves behind a growing legacy of family. Although this last year has provided challenges with visitations, she was able to enjoy a couple of zoom calls to the family and appreciated seeing her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
