FAIRWEATHER, Isobel Jane

-

Mom passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021 in her 97th year. She was born in Coronation, Alberta on January 14, 1925 to G.A. and Gladys (Asquith) Short. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Howard (Bob) Fairweather, by her daughter, Paige and by her three siblings, Bill Short (Ida), Joyce North (Lloyd) and Georgia Dawe (Art).

Mom is survived by her four children, Paul (Atsuko), Peter (Debbie), Peri McHale (Steve) and Patrick, seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She delighted in each and every one and all loved her back.

Mom was hard-working, creative, funny and intellectually curious. In her later years, she gained a certain notoriety for her excellent quilting and smocking skills and for her sweaters and multicoloured socks, which she gifted to anyone who showed an interest in warm footwear. When her own children and grandchildren were younger, they often wore clothes which she had sewn or knitted for them.

Mom worked for many years as an office manager for a number of doctors. She also worked for her daughter, Peri, a Court Reporter, as a steno-typist. After Dad retired in 1980, he and Mom eventually found their way from the Lower Mainland to the Okanagan near Oliver. When Dad died in 2005, Mom moved to Kelowna. She spent her last year in Vancouver in assisted living.

We will all miss her very much.

The family thanks the staff at Granville Gardens for welcoming her last year. The family also sends especial thanks to the Vancouver Hospice Society for providing such comfort and kindness in Mom's final weeks.
