Born in Vancouver, Tony was a curious, bright, mischievous, thrifty and friendly child. Showing early interest in business he had a paper route. Tony excelled at academics in public and private school and was an avid hockey player. Tony sang in the men and boys choir at Christ Church Cathedral and in the BC Boys Choir. On its extensive tour of Europe, Tony forged life-long friendships. He travelled around the world with his first wife Susan Claydon (née Hackwell). They then worked together in London, UK. Tony earned a B.A in History at UBC. However, it was business which attracted him and he pursued a career in the B.C. financial sector, especially in mining. He was respected and befriended by his business colleagues. He was single for much of his life, yet maintained strong friendships with both Susan and Nancy Kawazoe. He loved to visit the USA and Britain. Intelligent, perceptive, witty, feisty, an avid reader, he relished one-on-one conversations. Cam Haney aptly described Tony as a "cheerful stoic" in battling an incurable cancer for 21 months. Tony was loved and will be deeply missed.
