HADFIELD, (Ed) George

-

Oct 3, 1940 - May 2, 2021

Ed passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was born in Nottingham England and immigrated to Nanaimo with his parents George and Dorothy and brother Clive in December 1951. Left behind to cherish the memories of him are his lifelong partner Chris, her two children: Ken (Lynn), Karen (Doug), his grandchildren: Cole, Jenna (Alfie) and Kristina (Braeden), his great-grandchild: Marrcus, his brother: Clive (Gayle), his niece and nephew: Lori (Trevor) and Drew (Gail), their children: Regan and Jordana and Chris' niece Penny (Brent) and family. We are all blessed for the many years of happiness that we got to spend with him. Below are a final few words from Ed himself - he always wanted the last word, and this time we wouldn't want to have it any other way. "Well I'm finally at rest after two and a half years fighting terminal cancer; the time and method of death was of my choosing. Thank you, Dr. B Singh, (my family doctor) and Dr. Oja (my Oncologist) for your care and help during this difficult period. In my early years I had many different jobs. I was blessed with both ability and desire to play sports and excelled in most at the amateur level. I always gave 110% to win. I met and befriended too many people during this time to mention here; I have many fond memories. I became a postman in 1977 and in 1985 met my soulmate Chris. When we eventually settled down the rewards were many. One of my most cherished memories is standing on the 9th hole at the BMR golf course on a Sunday evening with my best friend Tony waving to people returning to Canada to earn money to pay for our pensions. Besides the Hadfield's, I leave behind with many cherished memories with the growing families of the Desmarais' and Graham's. I know you don't want to see me go, and the "Green Bean Grandpa" loved you all for that, but no more fight, the 110% has been used up."
