Floyd was born in Aylmer Quebec in 1931 and moved to Hamilton Ontario in 1947. He began as a stonemason and carpenter and started a distinguished building career with multi residential projects in the Hamilton area. Floyd worked and managed many projects throughout Ontario. Eventually, he landed in Whistler British Columbia with his wife Maggie and played a significant role in building the beautiful community of Whistler.

In his retirement, Floyd dedicated his time in the Parishes of St. Mary's, Chilliwack, St. Anthony in Agassiz and the Hope Catholic Church, where he was involved in renovating and building furnishings for the churches. He was an expert craftsman and his talent was reflected in all his gifts of exquisite wood creations made throughout his life.
