Doris Law (n. Chan-Kent) passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 2, 2021, at the age of 103.

Doris was born in 1917 in Victoria, BC, the second of 14 children born to Charles and Toy Chan-Kent. The family moved to Vancouver 10 years later and she grew up with her siblings in the Dunbar area. Doris was a member of the Vancouver Chinese Tennis Club during the 1930s and 1940s and was known as a force to be reckoned with on the courts, winning many tournament­s. Doris met Chuck Law during those early years playing tennis and during their 56 years of marriage, their home was always opened to family and friends. In the 1970s Doris joined the Richmond Tennis Club where she played well into her 80s and made many lasting and endearing friendship­s.

Doris, known to be fashionabl­e and stylish, and loved being active participat­ing in ballroom dancing, taichi, playing mah-jong and golf, and travelling with friends. When Doris was in her 90s you could often find her bouncing on her mini trampoline to the music of her favourite R & B artists. Doris is survived by her four children, son Chester (Irene) and daughters Christina (Greg), Darlena(Larry) and Roberta (Gerry). She was a loving Grandmothe­r to 9 grandchild­ren and 12 great grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of Life to remember and honour Doris will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.
