Wilde served legal documents onstage

-

Olivia Wilde was served legal papers from Jason Sudeikis in the middle of a presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week.

Attendees of the packed event were left confused when the director was handed a mysterious manila envelope by someone in front of the stage, Deadline reported. Some assumed it was the set-up for an elaborate joke, while others thought it was an unsolicited script.

Instead, she was getting served custody papers from ex-fiance Sudeikis. “This is for me, right?” asked Wilde, interrupted while introducing the trailer from her upcoming thriller Don't Worry Darling during the Warner Bros. presentation.

The director took the envelope with the words “personal and confidential” written on it and told the crowd she was “going to open it now because it feels like it's a script,” People magazine reported.

After opening the envelope, Wilde said, “OK, got it. Thank you,” and continued on with her presentation without skipping a beat.

Sudeikis, who shares two children with Wilde, was reportedly not aware that she would be served the legal documents during the movie theatre industry convention.

“Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner,” a source told Variety.

CinemaCon said it was re-evaluating security protocols following the incident, Variety reported.
