SHYNG, Pu Ha

December 24, 1931 - April 13, 2022

-

Pu Ha was born in Canton Province, China. She passed away peacefully on April 13th. As a young adult, she immigrated to Hong Kong, where she met her husband, Luke, and had three children - Phebe (Robert), Hebron (Mary) and Mary.

With the desire to provide her children with a better life and better educational opportunities, Pu Ha and Luke immigrated to Canada with their young family in 1967 with little money and big dreams. They worked incredibly hard to start a new beginning in Vancouver BC. Shortly after, two more children were added to the family - Daniel and Sion (Grace).

Pu Ha shared a love of gardening with Luke. Their green thumbs yielded bountiful crops of hearty vegetables and fruits, and blooms of beautiful flowers. She was just as skilled in the kitchen. There were often large dinner gatherings with her church friends, many of which have become lifelong friends from the days in Hong Kong to present. Her famous potstickers and "bao bao" always had the family coming home for dinner. Pu Ha also had a passion for knitting and her amazingly deft fingers produced her trove of knitted creations. Anyone who received one of her blankets, hats, scarves or sweaters knew that they were special and loved.

Pu Ha had a wonderful life and succeeded in fulfilling her dreams for her and her family. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Pu Ha cherished being a Christian and serving the Lord. Her strong faith gave her strength to overcome adversity in life and peace knowing that she would be with God. Pu Ha was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn on May 4, 2022, at 10am at 3789 Royal Oak Ave Burnaby BC.
