The Philadelphia Eagles signed undrafted free agent quarterback Carson Strong of Nevada on Sunday.

According to reports, Strong received $320,000 in guaranteed money, including a $20,000 signing bonus.

“Grateful for the opportunity,” Strong said in a tweet about his signing with the Eagles.

Strong was considered one of the top six quarterbacks available in the 2022 NFL Draft with estimates that he could be picked in the third-round. He ended up not being one of the nine quarterbacks selected during the seven-round draft.

Strong was reportedly considered a medical risk due to a serious right knee injury he sustained while playing high school basketball. He underwent surgery and missed the 2017 football season, his senior year of high school.

Strong underwent a second surgery on the knee in February of 2021. He said at the recent NFL combine that his recovery time was expected to be 12 months but he returned in six so he could play last season for Nevada.

“My doctor has me cleared to go, I know I'm ready to go, and so whatever team takes a chance on me, I'm going to be able to play ball at a high level,” Strong said at the time.

The Eagles' top two quarterback are starter Jalen Hurts and backup Gardner Minshew.

BEARS RELEASE FOLES

The Chicago Bears released quarterback Nick Foles on Sunday after failing to find a trade partner for the former Super Bowl MVP.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles said in March the team was looking to trade Foles after adding Trevor Siemian in free agency. The move allows Foles to find a new team on his own.

Foles, 33, appeared in 10 games (eight starts) in two seasons in Chicago, completing 65.1 percent of his passes for 2,102 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions and a 3-5 record. Last season, he was the third-string quarterback behind veteran Andy Dalton and rookie Justin Fields.

The Bears acquired Foles in a trade with Jacksonville two seasons ago.

Foles has thrown for 14,003 yards and 82 touchdowns in 68 games (56 starts) with five teams, most notably the Philadelphia Eagles (2012-14, 2017-18). Foles led the Eagles to a victory in Super Bowl LII.

SAINTS BADGERING HIM?

The New Orleans Saints are planning an “aggressive push” to sign free agent Tyrann Mathieu after failing to land a safety in the draft, ESPN reported Sunday.

Mathieu, who was born and raised in New Orleans, visited with the Saints in early April.

The three-time All-Pro, who carries the “Honey Badger” nickname, turns 30 on May 13, started 16 games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 and posted 76 tackles, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), three fumble recoveries and one sack.

BRYANT EYES CARDS

Free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant isn't ready to call it a career just yet.

Bryant, who hasn't played in the NFL since the 2020 season, expressed interest in joining quarterback Kyler Murray, coach Kliff Kingsbury and the Arizona Cardinals.

“Kyler, the coach — I love the swagger over there,” Bryant told TMZ. “I just love the guys, especially DeAndre Hopkins — that's my boy. We real close.”

Bryant, 33, had six catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns in six games with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020.

KAZEE TO STEELERS Damontae

Free-agent safety

Kazee is signing a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, ESPN reported.

Kazee, 28, recorded 52 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles in 17 games (15 starts) last season with Dallas. He spent his first four NFL seasons with Atlanta.
