Man with rifle arrested in DTES social housing complex
Vancouver police say they arrested a man brandishing a rifle inside a Downtown Eastside social housing complex on Thursday morning.
Building staff called 911 shortly after midnight when a 29-year-old man, who doesn't live in the building, reporting a man has walked in with a rifle and ammunition, then barricaded himself inside the staff-only office space, police said.
Officers arrested the man in the building, near East Hastings
and Princess Avenue, without incident. There were no injuries.
A Surrey man was taken to jail and faces several firearms charges, according to police.
