MANZER, Sandy Marion (Sandy)

November 25, 1943 - April 29, 2022

Sandy lost her battle with myeloma cancer this morning.

Sandy was born in Vancouver and raised in Burnaby. Sandy was the daughter of Melvin and Jean Manzer (both deceased). Sandy is survived by her life partner for the last 33 years, Ralph. She became good friends with Ralph’s daughters Sharnell and Michele and Grammasan to Ralph’s grandchildren Tavis, Jacob, and Micara. She made the comment on several occasions that she skipped a step and had Grandchildren first. Sandy is also survived by her brother Bob (Joyce) nephew Dean (Tanya) niece Dana (David) and grandniece Trinity.

Sandy was raised in the Royal Oak/Kingsway area. Sandy’s early years were involved with the United Church and the activities of Sunday school, summer camps, and on into young people’s groups. Upon completion of High School and for her “gap” year, she was hired in the accounting group of BC Tel (of course now TELUS.) She got caught up in the Company’s downsizing in the 1990’s and retired as a Construction Control Centre Supervisor after 31 years of service. In retirement Sandy took on courses like flower arrangements, weaving, and being involved with the Ladies Telephone Golf group, where arranging away days was the fun part. Sandy also did a lot of volunteering delivering Meals on Wheels in the North Delta area. Sandy several times adopted one of the “old girls” on her route, and would become their personal shopper. Sandy did about 16 years in the north living in Prince George. She and her BFF Helen pooled their resources and bought a lot in the College Heights area and had a home built. Many memories of having a base for summer getaways, camping and such, and in the winter being able to walk in the front door, change, walk out the back door, and go cross country skiing. A big part of the winters was being involved with the local theatre group as a stage manager/stage hand. Sandy found the scenery set ups to be fun and challenging. The last few years, Sandy enjoyed spending a couple months in Mexico each winter where she walked the beach, met folks from across the country and around the world and just enjoyed life.

A Celebration of life will be held at First Memorial Fraser Heights Chapel 14835 Fraser Hwy. Surrey, B.C on Tuesday May 17 at 12:00p.m.
