1932 - 2022

Jane passed away in West Vancouver, BC at the age of 89. She is survived by her loving family: children, Brenda (Dave), Ted (Pam), Peter (Megan), and Karen (Keiron); grandchildren, Nicola, Hannah, Greg, and Keifer; and sister Nora. Jane was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, in 2011 and sister, Paula, in 2014. Our family would like to thank all of Mom's caregivers and nurses, especially those who were at her side during the pandemic. Faith, family, and volunteer service were important to Mom. She loved music, gardening, literature, and was an avid international traveller. Most notably, she was posted with External Affairs at the Canadian Embassy in Beirut from 1955-57. It was there that she met Raymond, married, and then sailed back to Canada on the Queen Elizabeth II. She settled into motherhood and spent the next ten years supporting Dad's burgeoning career which came with moving the growing family to four different cities across Canada. Once settled in Vancouver, Jane continued her education at UBC to earn her 5th year education degree, her BA having been completed in her younger years at University of Western Ontario, Brescia College. Jane was a teacher for 24 years, first with Arthur District High School (Ontario) prior to leaving for the Middle East, then at Windermere from 1971-86, and finally at Eric Hamber until 1993. As head of the Business Education Department at both Vancouver schools, she worked tirelessly to develop ever-changing curriculums, ushered in the personal computer age, and was a driving force in career preparation. As Jane was very invested in her students' success', we ask that those wishing to make a memorial donation, do so to their education initiative of choice. Due to Covid-19, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 2pm PST.
