NIOSI, Daniel William Anthony (Dan)
May 22, 1935 - May 4, 2022
Dan passed away peacefully from complications due to multiple myeloma in Richmond, BC. Dan was born in 1935 in Toronto and graduated from UofT in 1961 in mining engineering. Dan worked for Noranda Mines for over 25 years and traveled extensively to Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, India, Morocco, Alaska, and Ghana. In 1993, Dan moved to Vancouver to work as a mining consultant with Hunter Dickinson, Terrane Minerals, Timmins Gold, and Northisle Copper & Gold. In 2013, Dan retired for the last time and committed himself to his passions: hunting down mystery novels; wine making; exercising; traveling; cheering on the Leafs, Jays, Raptors, & Canucks; and, spending time with friends and family. Dan leaves behind an enormous community of respected colleagues from the mining industry; dear friends in Toronto & Vancouver; extended family in Italy; close relatives in Toronto (sister Cecilia; brother Eugene; nephews Tony, Nick, Joe, Eugene Jr.; and niece Candace); and, his immediate family including his wife of 54 years, Claire; daughters Andrea (husband Michael) and Renata; and, his beloved grandchildren Stephanie (17) & Matthew (14) (father Dave Sinclair); Simone (14) & Giselle (10). Dan's philosophy on life was a simple one: work hard, play hard. Celebration of Life gatherings to be held in Vancouver and Toronto.
