Feb 14, 1922 - May 4, 2022 Betty Valentine Douglas, 100yrs, of White Rock, BC. died 4 May, 2022 after lunch, sitting peacefully in the lobby of the Peninsula Care Home, White Rock (5yrs).

Betty was born 14 February, 1922 to parents Isaac and Louise Landess in Kamloops, BC. Both parents came to Canada in 1918, mother Louise (Harrogate, England) and father Isaac (Pricetown, Ohio).

Betty attended Armstrong Elementary, graduated from Burnaby South High School, attended Burnaby United Church and sang in the choir. She loved to play sports and met future husband Johnny playing baseball. They were married on 13 November, 1943 and had 3 children.

Our Mum was also adept at curling, 5 -pin bowling, lawn bowling and in later years, played golf at the Vancouver Golf Club. Johnny was a very successful lacrosse player (Mann Cup 1947) and later coowned Douglas Plywood with brothers: Ralph and Fred.

Betty is survived by her 3 children: Maureen, Craig & Brent, 4 grandchild­ren and 5 great grandchild­ren.

Milestone: We celebrated Betty's 100th birthday with most of her extended family around her: Maureen, husband Don Pateman, grandson Eric, wife Gail (nee Shimizawa) daughters: Mieko, Aya & Kira; Craig, wife Frances Maddin, grandson John Maxwell; and Brent Douglas, wife Shannon Green and Mother, Georgie all in attendance. Absent were: Maureen's daughter Sandra (nee Pateman), husband Keith Parsons, grandchild­ren Kaden & Micah living in California and Craig's daughter Natalie Douglas presently in Nelson, BC. A Celebratio­n of Life will be held in July. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to BC Breast Cancer Society, or Alzheimer Research.
