Here's how and when you'll get your one-time ICBC gas relief rebate

- STEPHANIE IP

Wondering what happened to that gas relief rebate promised earlier this year? Don't worry, it's still happening.

In March, Premier John Horgan promised each B.C. driver a one-time rebate of $110 in response to rising gas prices spurred by international conflict.

The rebate is estimated to cost ICBC about $395 million and will be paid out to individual policy holders.

Those who are commercial vehicle policy holders will receive a rebate of $165. Any ICBC customer who held basic insurance policies during February 2022 is eligible.

How you'll receive your rebate depends on how you paid for your ICBC policy.

If you signed up for direct deposit: Check your bank account. You may have already received your rebate in the account where your payments are drawn, or will see it soon in the next few days, ICBC says.

If you paid your policy using a credit card: You'll receive a refund in the next few weeks.

If you paid by debit, cash, cheque or payment plan: Rebate cheques will be mailed starting in June and finish by the end of July.
