GIBSON, Lorraine Irene Theresa (nee Gagnon)

1945-2022

-

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on May 14, 2022 at the age of 76 after a short, courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She left us far too quickly, but we are grateful that she didn’t suffer too long. She will be forever in our hearts. Lorraine is survived by husband Chuck, children Vince (Gwen), Kent (Sharon), Betty-Karen, Lori (Chris), and Tracey, grandchildren Shayne, Chelsea, Kirk, Montana, Brandon, Francesca, Charleen, and Sam, great-grandchildren Adalyn and Oslo, brother Gary (Luanne), and sisters Linda and Donna.

Lorraine was born in Montreal, QC to Norma and Joseph Gagnon. Her family travelled across Canada by train and settled in Mission, BC in 1948. After graduating from high school, Lorraine worked as a bank teller in Mission and Kamloops before moving to Vancouver, where she was working as a waitress in 1967 when she met Chuck, the love of her life. They got married in February 1968 and were happily married for 54 years. Lorraine and Chuck lovingly raised their five children in Mission before moving to Abbotsford, BC in 1989. Lorraine was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi, a sorority that brought her great joy and lifelong friendships that she cherished.

Lorraine touched the lives of so many people. She was generous, loving, and caring, always quick with a smile and a kind word. Her infectious laugh will be missed by everyone who knew her. She talked to everyone and made everyone around her feel loved and supported, no matter the situation. She was a beautiful soul that will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Per Lorraine’s wishes, we will not be holding a funeral. We will hold a celebration of Lorraine’s life in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Lorraine’s name to the Holmberg House Hospice in Abbotsford, BC.
