HANSEN, Svend Aage

Sept 4, 1923 - May 1, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Svend Hansen at the age of 98. He was born in Haderslav Denmark and came to Canada in 1928 to start a new life here with his parents.

He is survived by his loving family, Diana (Peter) Hiebert and Don Hansen (Victoria Chapman). Also sadly missing him are his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica Hiebert (João Faria), Zachary (Olga) Hansen and his great granddaughters, Lilly and Iris Hansen. He is also missed by many relatives, friends and families in Port Moody, across Canada, and in Denmark and England.

He was predeceased in 2002 by his loving wife of 56 years, Edna May (Doleman) Hansen and his brother Bill Hansen in 2010.

Svend was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved his family dearly. He was a proud WWII navy veteran and enjoyed sharing his stories of that time with various groups as part of the Memories Project. All his life he was a hard worker with a long established career in the dairy industry and later devoted much time to his condo strata council. Among other activities, Svend and Edna were avid square dancers for many years.

A funeral service to be held on Saturday, June 18th at 11:00 am at Inlet United Church (formerly St. Andrew's) at 2315 Spring Street, Port Moody BC V3H1Y9. Masks mandatory. The service will also be held remotely via Zoom (pls contact the church at 604-939-5513 for details)
