On May 9 2022, we bid a sad goodbye to our loving dad, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend, James Vanstone. At the age of 81, Jimmy or Jimbo, as he was known to many, will lovingly be remembered by his children: KellyAnne, Jennifer(Boyd), Michael (Leslie), 10 grandchildren and many extended family members. He is predeceased by his wife Elaine and daughter Kathryn. Born in Vancouver on August 11, 1940 to parents Clem and Lil Vanstone, Jim with his 6 siblings, grew up in the Main Street area. He loved to share childhood memories of his adventures on Little Mountain, running the newspaper shack on south Oak street, where he rode his bike to daily, and traveling by bus as a young boy, dime in hand, to spend a day with brother Bob on the PNE fairgrounds.

At the age of 20 he married Elaine and described their meeting as "love at first sight." Initially they settled in east Vancouver eventually moving to Burnaby where they would raise their 4 children.

As a young man Jim entered the automotive industry where he worked as a parts driver for Clarke Simpkins. His strong work ethic and leadership eventually led him to the position of Service Manager for Don Docksteader Motors.

Always a sports enthusiast, Jim enjoyed golf, racquetball, scuba diving, cycling and curling among many other activities. In his final days he was happiest when watching hockey and enjoying a beer.

Jim had a friendly, easy going nature, always whistling or humming a jingle. He led a life filled with rich experiences where time spent with family and friends was paramount. He will be incredibly missed, loved and honored forever. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 13 from 12:00 - 3:00 at Riverway Golf Club in Burnaby.
