God's plan? Drake loses $230Gs on F1 bet

- — Mark Daniell

Drake is a little lighter in the wallet this week after losing $230,000 on Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix.

The rapper plunked down $230,000 on Formula One driver Charles Leclerc to win the race through cryptocurrency betting platform Stake.

“First F1 bet, let's see how it goes,” the God's Plan hitmaker shared to his Instagram Story.

F1 world champion Max Verstappen won the Spanish Grand Prix, taking over the top spot from Ferrari's luckless Leclerc, who was forced to quit the race after suffering engine failure while in the lead. While Drake's bet on Leclerc may not have worked out, he did recently pocket $800,000 after the Toronto Maple Leafs dropped Game 6 to the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier this month.

The Toronto native revealed on his Instagram Story that he bet $400,000 in his belief that the first-round NHL playoff series would stretch to seven games. After the Maple Leafs lost 4-3 in overtime, Drake walked away with $1.2 million. He also won $300,000 in February after wagering that the Los Angeles Rams would defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl.
