Cobain guitar fetches over $4.5M at auction
The guitar Kurt Cobain once described as his favourite has sold at auction for US$4,550,000.
Cobain used the blue 1969 Fender Mustang electric guitar in the video for Nirvana's 1991 hit Smells Like Teen Spirit.
It sold at Julien's Auctions in New York to the Jim Irsay Collection. A portion of the proceeds will go to the collection's effort to destigmatize mental health, Irsay told Rolling Stone.
