TIGAR, Margaret Helen

Sep 6, 1922 - Mar 9, 2024

It is with great sadness, we announce Margaret Tigar's (nee Woodfield) passing. She died peacefully in her sleep. Born in Vernon, BC, Margaret (or Maggie) was the younger daughter of Edna and Horace Woodfield and sister to the late Dorothy (Dalton). Margaret spent most of her childhood in Vancouver, living in South Vancouver and attending John Oliver High School. She was the beloved wife for 71 years of Lloyd (Bud) Tigar who died in 2012. Margaret's passing is mourned by daughter Arlene McLaren, son-in-law Angus McLaren, grandson Jesse McLaren, and granddaughter-in-law Laura Santoro and by nieces Jackie Schwab and Donna Cady.

Margaret will be remembered for her beauty and style, warmth, and wit. As a free spirit, she brought joy to many people during her years in Vancouver, Prince George, and Sidney. Long before bicycling became fashionable for middle-aged women, she found pleasure exploring her local environs on the two wheels, especially as they took her down to her special place, the sea. We thank the kind staff at Chelsea Park, where Margaret was 'the flower lady' and stole hearts. As her health slowly declined in her late nineties, she experienced excellent care and comfort at Brock Fahrni long-term care home. We are forever grateful to the staff who gave her a sense of calm and a life of peace. When she celebrated her centenary birthday, she was very happy to receive the Queen's congratulations.

In lieu of flowers, please support the charity of your choice. Later in the year, we will have a small, private gathering for immediate family members.
