Of­fi­cer in­jured in ar­rest

A Leeds County On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice of­fi­cer was in­jured try­ing to ar­rest a driver who had fled on foot on High­way 401 late Tues­day. With the as­sis­tance of by­standers, the sus­pect was re­strained. Leeds de­tach­ment of­fi­cers had re­ceived in­for­ma­tion about a ve­hi­cle driv­ing er­rat­i­cally be­fore col­lid­ing into the me­dian on the east­bound 401 in Front of Yonge Town­ship just af­ter 8:30 p.m., said po­lice. The driver re­port­edly got out of his car and be­gan ac­cost­ing as­sist­ing by­standers. Po­lice said it is in­di­cated he tried to en­ter their ve­hi­cles be­fore he be­gan run­ning down the high­way. The sus­pect was taken to Brockville Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal for as­sess­ment. Po­lice were not re­leas­ing fur­ther in­for­ma­tion as of Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon and the in­ves­ti­ga­tion was con­tin­u­ing.
