Sus­pect flees RIDE stop

City po­lice on Thurs­day ar­rested a man af­ter a sus­pect fled the scene of a RIDE pro­gram. Of­fi­cers con­ducted the Re­duce Im­paired Driv­ing Ev­ery­where (RIDE) pro­gram start­ing at 5 p.m. The first ve­hi­cle they ob­served was be­ing driven by a man known to both of­fi­cers work­ing the RIDE pro­gram, po­lice said Fri­day. The sus­pect, who was on a Crim­i­nal Code driv­ing pro­hi­bi­tion, tried to flee the area and left the ve­hi­cle aban­doned, said po­lice. One of the of­fi­cers quickly lo­cated the man at the rear of a res­i­dence. Of­fi­cers ar­rested and searched him, lead­ing to the dis­cov­ery of a quan­tity of drugs, po­lice added. His “bor­rowed” ve­hi­cle was im­pounded for 45 days, said po­lice. An­drew Beau­re­gard, 41, was held in cus­tody for a bail hear­ing, po­lice re­ported.
