Suspect flees RIDE stop
City police on Thursday arrested a man after a suspect fled the scene of a RIDE program. Officers conducted the Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program starting at 5 p.m. The first vehicle they observed was being driven by a man known to both officers working the RIDE program, police said Friday. The suspect, who was on a Criminal Code driving prohibition, tried to flee the area and left the vehicle abandoned, said police. One of the officers quickly located the man at the rear of a residence. Officers arrested and searched him, leading to the discovery of a quantity of drugs, police added. His “borrowed” vehicle was impounded for 45 days, said police. Andrew Beauregard, 41, was held in custody for a bail hearing, police reported.
