Cameron to play for Batalion
cole cameron is headed to North Bay. the 20-year-old Johnstown, ont. native was acquired by the North Bay Battalion in a trade with the owen sound attack. North Bay gave up its fourth-round pick in the 2019 OHL Priority selection for cameron, a five-foot-11, 175-pound right shot defenceman who signed with owen sound as a free agent in 2016. cameron came to the attack during the 2016-17 season from ridley college. he played in 61 games in his first campaign and dressed in 66 games the next season. he compiled two goals and 14 assists in his two years with the attack, who are coached by cardinal-born todd Gill. “everything is a process in life, and people that rush usually make poor decisions,” said stan Butler in a Battalion press release announcing the cameron deal. “we’re going to evaluate. we’ve got a very young group of d that have got an opportunity. But i don’t think there’s any doubt that, if an overage defenceman is there that we feel can help our team, we’ll definitely do something.” cameron also played three seasons in the upper canada cyclones system between 2011 and 2014.
