On Wednesday, the TISS Grade 10 Introduction to Business class, taught by Larry Henry, handed over $1,400 to Ontario SPCA-Leeds and Grenville, represented by Marianne Carlyle (shown here with dog Smitty). The money was raised through the school’s annual ball hockey tournament run by the class. Usually the event, which was held in November, is put on by older business students at the school, but this year the Grade 10s did it and put up impressive numbers. Funds were raised through registration costs and the canteen setup at the event. Helping out the money total was the fact that Kathy MacDonald, a grandmother of a student in the business class, donated hamburgers for the BBQ. The donated money all stays at the Leeds and Grenville animal centre, said Carlyle. The tournament also brought in a car full of donated food that was given to the local food bank.
