Three Braves earn spot on Canada East team

The health of the back-end for the Brockville Braves seems to be more than fine. it was an­nounced wed­nes­day that goalie Liam souliere, and de­fence­men si­mon mack and Tyler mcBay had made it through the try­out stage and onto the canada east Team com­pet­ing at the world Ju­nior a chal­lenge, which will be held in Bon­neyville, aB from dec. 9 to 16. They were the only three Braves play­ers that at­tended the canada east camp, which ran from dec. 2 to 4 in eto­bi­coke, ont. The play­ers picked for the try­out were se­lected from the cJhL’s five east­ern Jr. a leagues – noJhL, oJhL, cchL, LhJaaaQ, and mhL. The Braves have the most play­ers on the canada east ros­ter. also mak­ing the team is kemptville 73s for­ward John Beaton and smiths Falls Bears for­ward Ryan Richard­son. Brockville’s equip­ment man­ager Brooks Tay­lor is on the canada east staff as well. souliere has been a force all sea­son with a league-lead­ing .936 save per­cent­age and 1.97 goals against av­er­age, post­ing a 19-3-1-0 record. mack has built a rep­u­ta­tion for his high-end skat­ing abil­ity and hockey iQ. he has put up two goals and 15 as­sists in his sec­ond-year with the Braves. mcBay has be­come known for his strong stay-at-home de­fend­ing, pick­ing up a goal and eight as­sists this sea­son. canada east will open the tour­na­ment on sun­day, de­cem­ber 9 against Rus­sia.
