Woman nabbed for pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty

A Sault Ste. Marie woman is fac­ing charges af­ter she at­tempted to pawn the jew­elry at a lo­cal store. Po­lice say of­fi­cers with the break and en­ter unit ar­rested Bobbi-Jean Otak­wad­ji­wan-Boyer, 32, of Al­bert Street West, for pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty.

It’s al­leged she tried to pawn the jew­elry on Nov. 20, a day af­ter it had been re­ported stolen from a break and en­ter.

The value of the jew­elry was es­ti­mated at just over $12,000. The jew­elry has been re­cov­ered.

Po­lice say the ac­cused was ar­rested Mon­day and at that time, in pos­ses­sion of per­sonal cheques that had been re­ported stolen from a break and en­ter ear­lier in June. She is charged with two counts of pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty and is to ap­pear in court Jan. 14.
