Woman nabbed for possession of stolen property
A Sault Ste. Marie woman is facing charges after she attempted to pawn the jewelry at a local store. Police say officers with the break and enter unit arrested Bobbi-Jean Otakwadjiwan-Boyer, 32, of Albert Street West, for possession of stolen property.
It’s alleged she tried to pawn the jewelry on Nov. 20, a day after it had been reported stolen from a break and enter.
The value of the jewelry was estimated at just over $12,000. The jewelry has been recovered.
Police say the accused was arrested Monday and at that time, in possession of personal cheques that had been reported stolen from a break and enter earlier in June. She is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property and is to appear in court Jan. 14.
